I pursued the instability of sound through the way the distortion would resonate in the ear when the horn’s quarter tones collided with the piano tuned in equal temperament. This piece was written with the intention that it would be placed at the end of my series 'Chouju Giga,' named after the Choju Jinbutsu Giga, a picture scroll that ends with a serpent coming out from the grass. The serpent is said to represent death and rebirth. (Yoko Suzuki)
